Layered Light

A large hand-blown Murano glass flush mount by Leucos, the Venetian house behind some of the most refined Italian glass lighting of the 1970s. Two blown elements — a clear lower dome encasing the light source and a white opaline upper dome diffusing it softly upward — produce a layered quality of light that contemporary fittings do not replicate, on a white enamelled metal base with multiple sockets. The label confirms hand-blown Murano production, which matters on a flush mount of this 50cm scale. Suits a bedroom, hallway or living room where a pendant would hang too low.
