Bertoncello Sasso Bianco Vase, 1970s.
Sasso Bianco
A 1970s vase from Bertoncello Ceramiche d'Arte of Schiavon, in the Veneto, glazed in the house's Sasso Bianco — "white stone" — finish. The glaze is the event: a dry, textured white that holds light and shadow across the sculpted surface, giving the vessel depth from every angle, in the manner associated with Bertoncello's art director Roberto Rigon. It reads as sculpture empty and works perfectly well with stems in it. There is some minor damage to the surface, shown in the final photograph and noted below. Suits a shelf, mantel or grouped with other white ceramics.
