The Beaked Drop

A sculptural teardrop vase drawn up into a slender beak, worked in pink and red cased with green sommerso glass and wrapped in a thick clear layer. The asymmetric pulled form and layered colour are hallmarks of Murano's post-war art glass, where colour was submerged in crystal for depth and movement. Made in Italy, c.1960s–70s.

Unsigned, as much Murano production is, and so offered as Murano by convention rather than attributed to a named glasshouse.
