1960s Italian Woven Rattan Pendant with Wood Chain
A beautifully crafted Italian pendant from the 1960s, this hanging light is a study in artisan restraint. The shade is constructed in a faceted octagonal form — eight panels of fine woven cane held within curved bamboo ribs that taper elegantly to a turned walnut finial at the top.
The hardware is the piece's quiet highlight: a heavy brass-link chain suspends the shade, with an original decorative filigree brass pull — the kind of considered detail that Italian craftsmen of this period were known for, and that is increasingly hard to find intact.
Lit, the cane weave will cast a warm, dappled light across any room. Unlit, it reads as sculpture.
This is a piece that works equally well in a coastal interior, a rattan-forward maximalist room, or as a foil to harder, more architectural spaces. One of those rare vintage lights that feels genuinely at home in a contemporary setting without needing to announce itself.
Condition: Good vintage condition, consistent with age. Cane weave intact throughout. Original brass pull and chain present. Rewiring recommended before use — we can connect you with our electrician.
