Boch Frères Faux-Bamboo Tray, Mustard-Glazed Ceramic, Belgium, c.1970s
Mustard Bamboo
A rectangular ceramic tray by Boch Frères, its surface modelled in relief to mimic a raft of bamboo canes bound in rows, under a glossy mustard-ochre glaze, raised on small feet. Belgium, c.1970s.
Boch Frères (Keramis) of La Louvière is one of Belgium's major potteries; this comes from its decorative mid-century production rather than the collectible Art Deco Catteau line. The faux-bamboo relief and warm mustard glaze are very much of their moment and sit well in current interiors. Marked to the base. It works as a catch-all or decorative tray, or as a serving and display piece on a table, console or sideboard.
