Trompe-l'œil Ceramic

A 1970s Italian ceramic tray made in convincing imitation of natural bamboo, produced by Modigliani exclusively for their Roma store on Via Condotti. The glazed ceramic gives it a satisfying weight and a durability real bamboo cannot match, while the trompe-l'œil finish carries the period's pleasure in blurring material and illusion. Works daily as a serving tray, vanity organiser or entryway catch-all.
