The Woven Illusion

A trompe-l'oeil basket by Ceramiche Modigliani of Rome — a woven wicker basket rendered entirely in glazed ceramic, with modelled rope-twist handles at each end and a radiating split-cane base. The cream glaze carries a soft antique wash that settles into the weave, so it reads as old wicker until you pick it up. Signed MODIGLIANI to the underside, model 1033.
