The Bamboo Occasional

A near-cubic occasional table in bamboo and rattan — a light bamboo frame with rattan-bound corners in the woven triangular wrap typical of Italian bamboo furniture of the period, topped with a panel of woven cane. Its upright proportions make it a proper occasional or lamp table rather than a low one: good height for a table lamp, a stack of books or a plant beside a chair.

Originally one of a nest of tables, which gives it a genuinely useful quirk: one side is left open, without a lower rail. That open side lets it draw up over a sofa arm, a bed edge or an armchair, sitting close as a drinks or laptop table where a fully framed table won't reach.

Light and structurally sound, it sits easily alongside mid-century and contemporary furnishings.
