Lamperti "Illo" Wall Lights, Etched Glass and Black Metal, Pair, Italy, c.1980s
The Illo Pair
These are two "Illo" wall lights made by the Italian lighting company Lamperti in the 1980s. Each one has a triangular back panel of etched glass, with a half-shell diffuser in the same glass held in a black metal rim. The etching gives the glass a faint green shimmer at the edges. When lit, the panel throws light up the wall while the shell softens it below. The flat triangle against the rounded shell is typical of Italian postmodern lighting of the period.
The pair would sit well either side of a bed or a mirror, or flanking a doorway or a hallway.
