Leucos Murano Glass Wall or Ceiling Light, White Opaline with Coloured Bands Italy, c.1970s
The Banded Opaline
A Leucos light in white opaline (lattimo) Murano glass, the softly tapered body ringed at the rim by applied bands of cobalt, turquoise, green and lime — the a fasce banded style, here in a full four-colour run rather than a single accent. Hand-made in Italy and retaining both its Leucos and Vetri Murano foil labels, with the VM model code 048. Clean and sculptural unlit; when lit the opaline glows evenly and the coloured bands catch at the edge.
Leucos, founded near Venice in 1962, is among the most collected of the post-war Venetian lighting houses, and its opaline fittings with coloured-glass rims are a signature. Designed to mount either as a wall light or a ceiling flush mount, so it suits a hallway, bedroom or bathroom.
