Murano Glass Table Lamp in the Manner of Carlo Nason for Mazzega, White and Clear Glass on Chrome, Italy, c.1970s
The Mazzega Cloud
A table lamp in hand-blown Murano glass, made in Italy in the 1970s. The shade is a wide, flattened globe of white lattimo glass worked with clear sections, so the surface shifts between opaque and translucent. Lit, it gives a soft, uneven glow rather than a flat diffused light. The shade sits in a chrome collar with ball-finial clips, raised on a cluster of tubular chrome columns over a circular chrome base.
The form follows the mottled glass lamps Carlo Nason designed for Mazzega in the same period. This example is unsigned and unlabelled, and is offered in that manner rather than as a documented model. It suits a sideboard, a console or a low side table, where the glass can be seen at eye level.
