Cream and Speckle

A small round-bellied jug with a narrow neck and a generous loop handle, in a soft matt cream glaze that is flecked all over with brown speckles. Inside, the neck is glazed a warm amber, which you only see when you look in. It was made in West Germany, where the potteries numbered each shape and its height in centimetres on the base, and it's plain enough to sit with anything on the table.

For a loose bunch of flowers or dried stems, or simply on a kitchen shelf. Best kept for display rather than daily use.
