Sculptural Seating

A small two-seat settee in bamboo and rattan, the bowed bamboo frame rising to looping, scrolled rattan arms over a low back, with a slim new upholstered seat cushion in deep red. The scrolled arms are the piece's signature — a flourish of bent cane that reads as sculpture from every angle — while the low, light frame keeps it from dominating a room. Attributed to Bonacina, the Lombard rattan house founded in 1889 and producer of Franco Albini's designs. Suits an entrance hall, the foot of a bed, or occasional seating in a living room. Sourced in Piedmont.
