A classic Italian rattan side table from the 1960s, and one with a detail worth pausing on: the top is constructed from a single continuous spiral of bent cane, radiating outward from a tight central coil to the outer rim. Four splayed bamboo legs are joined by a lower rattan stretcher shelf, giving the piece both stability and that characteristic lightness of touch that Italian mid-century makers did so well. The wrapped rattan joints at the leg junctions are tight and intact — always a good sign in a piece of this age.
