A wall-mounted hook rack from Italy, 1970s — three smoked glass disc hooks on a flat dark steel rail, each disc topped with a domed steel stud. Simple, precise, and considerably more considered than the function requires.

The smoked glass discs give the piece its character — dark, translucent, slightly mysterious — and place it in the orbit of Italian designers working with industrial materials in that particular way that the 1970s did so well. It reads as both utilitarian and decorative, which is the best thing a hook can be.
