Blue Bands

A white country jug from Puglia, thrown by hand and painted with simple blue bands around the body and rim. The throwing lines show all the way up, the spout is pinched by hand, and the ribbed handle sits slightly off true.

Puglia has a long tradition of everyday glazed pottery, made to be used rather than kept for best. Use it for water or wine at the table, wooden spoons beside the stove, or a loose handful of garden flowers.

Condition: Good vintage condition. Marks to the glaze near the base, shown in the photographs.
