The Munich Ice Sconce

An elongated wall light with a thick moulded ice glass shade, the surface worked in vertical rippled relief with a flat rim. The form and glass are in the manner of J.T. Kalmar of Vienna, whose Ice Glass series of the 1960s defined the type; comparable lights were also produced in Germany during the period. Lit, the heavy textured glass breaks the light into a soft, watery diffusion.

The shade sits on its original steel mounting rail with twin E14 sockets, secured by bracket clamps. Equally at home flat against a wall or, given its trough form, as a flush ceiling mount above a hallway or vanity.
