A cast bronze Etruscan horse in the manner of Frederick Weinberg, the American mid-century designer whose stylised animal sculptures became some of the most recognisable decorative objects of the 1950s and 60s.

The Etruscan horse is Weinberg's most enduring form — drawn from the archaic bronzes of ancient Italy, abstracted into something that feels equally at home in a mid-century interior or a contemporary one. The surface carries the characteristic impressed decoration and aged patina of the period, with that quality of arrested movement that the best Etruscan-style bronzes achieve: dynamic but contained, energetic but composed.

At 20cm this is a desktop or shelf object — the kind of thing that sits on a stack of books, on a console, or beside a lamp and quietly holds its end of the room. It will look as good in fifty years as it does today.

Condition: Good vintage condition consistent with age. Natural patina throughout.

Origin: USA, c. 1950s–1960s
