The Tulip Pair
A pair of vintage Italian glass wall sconces in tulip form, the shades scalloped at the rim and ribbed vertically in the manner of unfurling petals. The surface carries a "graniglia" finish — fine granules of glass fused to the body — which scatters the light into a soft, even glow when lit. Each shade is mounted on a metal plate with a bronze base, fixed with a single polished brass finial.
At 25cm wide they sit comfortably either side of a bed, mirror or doorway, and the frosted texture reads as sculptural even when unlit. Pairs in this form with the graniglia finish are increasingly hard to come by.
