The Albini Manner

A low dressing stool in bent rattan and bamboo, made in Italy in the mid-century period, in the style of Franco Albini. The square seat is cushioned beneath a hand-woven cane surface, giving comfort with the look of traditional caning; it sits within a bamboo frame, with a low back rail carrying an open figure-of-eight rattan motif. The corner joints and stretchers are bound in wrapped rattan — a hallmark of the Italian rattan workshops that produced Albini's designs. Unsigned, as is usual for workshop production of this type.

Sits well at a dressing table or vanity, in an entrance, or as occasional seating in a bedroom.
