Municipio Bookend, Reclaimed Italian Travertine, Made by Buson
From the Town Hall
Municipio is cut from reclaimed Italian travertine that spent four decades inside a town hall in northern Italy. We named it after the building it came from. An Italian artisan cuts each one by hand in small batches: a square back and a square foot, with one of two pieces set in the corner between them. The blade is a slim upright of stone, the lighter and more graphic of the two. The block is a small square, chunkier and more architectural.
The travertine is left as it came out of the building, open and full of holes. At two kilos, one will hold a row of art books against a wall on its own; a pair will hold a shelf of them between. Pairs are matched from the same batch, so the two sit well together.
