Murano Glass Half-Moon Wall Light, Stepped Satin White Glass, Italy, c.1980s
The Half Ziggurat
This is a half-moon wall light in hand-blown Murano glass, made in the 1980s. The shade is a half-dome of white opaline glass, formed in concentric steps that rise towards the wall. A satin acid-etched finish gives an even, diffused light. Lit, it washes light upwards and outwards across the wall, and the stepped edges show as fine lines of shadow. The design takes its cue from Art Deco architecture. The original Murano label is still attached.
It suits a hallway, a staircase or a bathroom, or it can be placed either side of a bed or a mirror. Works as a companion to the full Ziggurat.
